The Northeast Health District added 63 new cases of COVID-19 in the week ending on Friday, and no new confirmed deaths attributed to the disease.
The 63 added cases of COVID-19 and no deaths compare with the 70 cases and the four confirmed deaths added in the week ending June 25.
The average of 9.0 new cases per day for the week ending on Friday compares with the average of 10.0 new cases per day for the week ending on June 25.
Oconee County added two cases in the week ending on Friday, and Clarke County added 14.
In the week ending on June 25, Oconee County added no cases and Clarke County added 19.
The Department of Public Health eliminated one confirmed death that previously had been listed in Madison County, reducing that county’s total to 46 deaths and the total number of confirmed deaths in the 10-county Northeast Health District to 944.
The Northeast Health District had 94 “probable” deaths from COVID-19 on Friday, the same as a week earlier.

University, Long-Term Care, Hospital Reports
The University of Georgia on Wednesday, in its COVID-19 Health and Exposure Update, reported no positive COVID-19 test.
The University had reported one positive COVID-19 test last week.
The University reported that 55 individuals were tested at the walk-in Legion Field site, down from 104 a week earlier, and none of the tests came back positive.
This was the seventh week in a row that none of the tests at Legion Field came back positive.
The Department of Community Health did not release its Long-Term Care Facility Report on Friday.
The Georgia Hospital Association and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency reported on Friday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals was seven, the number of ICU beds in use was 52, and the number of adult ventilators in use was 31.
On Friday a week earlier, the number of COVID-19 patients was seven, the number of ICU beds in use was 50, and the number of adult ventilators in use was 26.
Vaccine Updates
According to the raw data behind the Department of Public Health Vaccine Distribution Dashboard for Friday, 36.4 percent of the residents of the Northeast Health District had at least one dose of a vaccine on Friday and 33.5 percent were fully vaccinated.
Last week, those figures were 35.8 with at least one dose and 32.5 fully vaccinated.
In the 10-county Northeast Health District, Oconee County has the highest rate of residents with at least one dose (48.6 percent) and the highest percentage fully vaccinated (45.4 percent).
Clarke County has 40.0 percent of its residents with at least one dose and 37.0 percent fully vaccinated.
A week ago, Oconee County also was at the top of the District, with 48.0 percent of its residents with at least one dose and 44.2 percent fully vaccinated.
A week ago, 39.4 percent of Clarke County’s residents had at least one dose of the vaccines, and 36.1percent were fully vaccinated.
These percentages are different from those shown on the Vaccine Distribution Dashboard.
I have used the population estimates used by the Department of Public Health in the Daily Status Report rather than the lower population estimates that the Department of Public Health uses in the Vaccine Distribution Dashboard.
State, National Comparisons
Oconee County added 725 new vaccinations in the last seven days ending on Friday, compared with 218 added the week earlier.
Clarke County added 1,764 new vaccinations in the last seven days, compared with 643 a week earlier.
Reporting of vaccinations in recent weeks has been quite irregular.
Georgia continues to be among the states with the lowest percentage of its population fully vaccinated.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia has only 36.2 percent of its population fully vaccinated. Only Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Wyoming, Tennessee, and Idaho have lower percentages.
Nationally, the percentage of persons fully vaccinated is 47.1.
The figure is 65.8 in Vermont, the state with the highest rate of full vaccination.
