The Northeast Health District of the Department of Public Health added three COVID-19 deaths and 136 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday with the release of the Daily Status Report.
Clarke County had its 18th COVID-19 death, of a 62-year-old male without a known chronic condition.
Walton County, which had added two deaths on Wednesday, added two more on Thursday, bringing its total to 39, the most of any of the 10 counties in the District.
The newly recorded Walton County deaths were of a 79-year-old male with a chronic condition and of an 83-year old male without a known chronic condition.
The seven-day average of added deaths in the 10-county Northeast Health District increased to 1.4 from 1.0 on Wednesday.
The 136 new COVID-19 cases were spread throughout the District, with each county adding at last three. Oconee County added five cases and Clarke County added 31.
The seven-day rolling average of added cases declined from 158.9 on Wednesday to 153.6, and the Northeast Health District now is reflecting the pattern for the state as a whole, which has seen a plateauing of cases.
The Department of Community Health Long-Term Care Facility Report on Thursday listed one additional COVID-19 Positive Staff at Avery Place personal care home in Winterville in Clarke County and five additional COVID-19 Positive Staff at Savannah Court of Lake Oconee personal care home in Greene County.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency reported that area hospitals had five Critical Care Beds available. Hospitals have a deadline of noon each day to file their reports on bed usage.
The five beds available follow reports of two Critical Care available on Wednesday and one Critical Care Bed available on Tuesday.
Available Critical Care Beds have been five or fewer eight of the last 11 days.
State Data
Across the state, the Department of Public Health reported 42 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths increased to 51.4, just shy of he record across the time of the pandemic set on Tuesday of 51.7.
Twenty-seven of those deaths were in the last 14 days, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by time of occurrence was 17.4, just shy of the record 17.7 set on Wednesday.
The state added 3,250 new COVID-19 cases with the release of the Daily Status Report on Thursday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped to 3,277.3 from 3,390.9 on Wednesday.
The data for the last week suggest cases actually may be declining.
The Department of Community Health reported that 608 of the state’s long-term care facilities with 25 or more beds have COVID-19 among their residents and/or staff, up from 607 on Wednesday.
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency reported that the number of Current Confirmed COVID-19 Hospitalizations decreased from 3,077 on Wednesday to 3,006 on Thursday and the number of ventilators in use decreased from 1,255 on Wednesday to 1,249 on Thursday.
