COVID-19 Case Count In Northeast Health District Basically Unchanged From Week Earlier, According To State Health Department Report

***Clarke County Reports Confirmed Death From Disease***

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported that the Northeast Health District added 141 new cases of COVID-19 in the week ending on Nov. 1, based on the Department’s electronic tracking system.

The Department of Public Health reported the Northeast Health District had added 146 cases in the week ending on Oct. 25.

The District had reported 83 cases in the week ending on Oct. 18, and 157 new cases in the week ending on Oct. 11.

The Department of Public Health reported one new confirmed death from COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District in its report on Wednesday. That death was in Clarke County.

The Department of Public Health had reported no new confirmed deaths from the disease in its report on Oct. 25.

Weekly Report

Although the Department of Public Health is releasing a report only weekly, it is gathering data on a daily basis, and the weekly report includes a data file containing case counts each day, ending on a Wednesday.

At-home test results are not included in the electronic reporting system.

The average number of added cases per day in the last seven days ending on Nov. 1 was 20.1. down just slightly from 20.9 last week.

Oconee County added 10 new cases in the seven days ending on Nov. 1.

Oconee County had added nine new cases in the week ending on Oct. 25.

Clarke County added 25 new cases in the seven days ending on Nov. 1. It had 19 new cases in the seven days ending on Oct. 25.

The unstandardized rolling average of added cases in Oconee County on Nov. 1 was 1.3. It was 1.1 on Oct. 25.

The unstandardized seven-day rolling average of added cases in Clarke County on Nov. 1 was 4.4. On Oct. 25 was 3.6.

Deaths

The Clarke County death was of an 84-year-old female without a chronic condition.

Her death brings to 254 the number of confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the county, or 197.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The most recent death from COVID-19 reported in Clarke County was on Sept. 13.

The total number of deaths in the Northeast Health District from the disease now stands at 1,780, or 335.8 deaths per 100,000 population.

Clarke County has the lowest rate of deaths in the 10-county Northeast Health District.

Oconee County, with 108 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, has the second lowest rate of deaths, with 258.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The Northeast Health District reported 197 “probable” deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, one more than a week earlier.

The new probable death from COVID-18 was reported in Morgan County, which now has 13 such deaths reported, the same number as Oconee County. Clarke County has 19 probable deaths from COVID-19.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s 10-county Northeast Health District includes, in addition to Oconee and Clarke counties, Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oglethorpe, and Walton.
