The Georgia Department of Public Health reported that the Northeast Health District added only 132 new cases of COVID 19 in the week ending on March 13, based on the Department’s electronic tracking system.
The Department of Public Health reported the Northeast Health District had added 229 cases in the week ending on March 6, 311 cases in the week ending on Feb. 28, and 374 cases in the week ending on Feb. 21.

One of the two newly reported confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District was in Clarke County.

Although the Department of Public Health is releasing a report only weekly, it is gathering data on a daily basis, and the weekly report includes a data file containing case counts each day, ending on a Wednesday.

The average number of added cases per day in the last seven days ending March 13 was 18.6, down from 32.7 on March 6.
Oconee County added five new cases in the seven days ending on March 13.
Oconee County had added three new cases in the week ending on March 6.
Clarke County added 29 new cases in the seven days ending on March 13. It had added 57 new cases in the seven days ending on March 6.
The unstandardized rolling average of added cases in Oconee County on March 13 was 1.0. It was 0.9 on March 6.
The unstandardized seven day rolling average of added cases in Clarke County on March 13 was 4.4. It was 8.0 on March 6.
Deaths
The Clarke County death was of an 88-year-old female without a chronic condition.
The death brings to 258 the number in the county since the onset of the pandemic in February of 2020, or 200.5 deaths per 100,000 population.
The other confirmed death from COVID-19 reported in the week ending on March 13 was in Walton County, which now has 444 confirmed deaths from COVID-19, or 459.3 per 100,000 population.
The Northeast Health District as a whole now has reported 1,811 confirmed COVID 19 deaths since February of 2020, or 341.6 deaths per 100,000 population.
Clarke County with its 258 confirmed deaths from COVID-19 has the lowest rate of deaths per 100,000 population in the 10-county Northeast Health District, at 200.5, followed by Oconee County, which has 109 deaths from the disease, or 260.8 per 100,000 population.
Elbert County has the highest death rate from the disease in the Northeast Health District, with 479.6 deaths per 100,000, and it is followed by Walton County.
Elbert County has 94 recorded confirmed deaths.
The Northeast Health District reported 197 “probable” deaths from COVID 19 on Wednesday, the same as a week earlier.
The Georgia Department of Public Health’s 10 county Northeast Health District includes, in addition to Oconee and Clarke counties, Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oglethorpe, and Walton.
