***Critical Care Bed Use Also Increases***

Reflecting the broader trends across the state of Georgia, the 10-county Northeast Health District added 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, listed three new deaths attributed to the disease, and reported the highest number of Critical Care Beds in use in more than two weeks.

Only Oconee County among the the 10 counties in the Department of Public Health Northeast Health District did not add at least one case in the Friday Daily Status Report, released at 2:50 p.m. on Friday.

Clarke County added 11 cases, and Barrow County added five.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased from 20.7 on Thursday to 22.9 on Friday.

One of the deaths was in Greene County--of an 86-year-old male with no chronic condition–while the other two were in Madison County–of a 78-year-old female and of an 87-year-old male, neither of whom had a chronic condition.

The seven-day rolling average of added deaths for the District remained the same as the day before at 1.4 deaths per day.

The Georgia Department of Community Health reported late on Friday that the cumulative number of residents in the 24 long-term care facilities with COVID in the Northeast Health District increased by nine from Thursday and the number of residents currently with the disease increased by eight.

The Georgia Emergency Management Agency reported that the number of Critical Care Beds in use in area hospitals increased by seven from Thursday’s report to the report on Friday and the number of available beds dropped to 10, it lowest level since June 4.
