The Northeast Health District added 43 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and one death with the release of the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report. The seven-day rolling averages of cases and deaths remained unchanged from Sunday.
The death was of a 70-year-old male in Oglethorpe County without a chronic condition. Oglethorpe now has 13 deaths from the corona virus, and the Northeast Health District has 299.
The seven-day rolling average was 1.4 deaths from the disease per day both on Sunday and Monday.
The 43 added cases in the 10-county Northeast Health District was just one fewer than was added on Monday of last week, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases was 105.9 on Monday compared with 106.0 on Sunday
Each of the 10 counties in the District added cases on Monday except for Greene and Elbert counties.
Oconee County added four cases and Clarke County added nine. The seven-day rolling average of added cases was the same on Monday as on Sunday in Oconee County and increased slightly in Clarke County.
The recent increases in COVID-19 cases in the area is in evidence in the hospital data released on Monday.
The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (67) increased by seven from the day before and has increased each of the last three days.
GHA and GEMA also reported that the number of ICU beds in use (64) increased by two from the day before and by four from Saturday, and that the number of adult ventilators in use (21) decreased by one from the day before.
The Department of Community Health, in its Monday Long-Term Care Facility Report, listed one new COVID-19 Positive Staff in the 36 facilities in the Northeast Health District covered by the report. That was at Great Oaks personal care home in Walton County.
State Data
Across the state, the Daily Status Report added 975 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases was 1,539.3, up from 1,509.4 on Sunday. That average has increased for 12 straight days.
The Department of Public Health listed 16,356 new molecular tests in Monday’s Daily Status Report, and the positivity rate for the added tests was 7.2 percent. The seven-day rolling average for that statistic was 7.1 percent, the same as on Sunday.
The 18 new deaths added in the Daily Status Report on Monday compared with 19 a week ago, and the seven-day rolling average of added death dropped from 25.0 on Sunday to 24.9 on Monday.
Of the 18 added new deaths, 12 occurred in the last 14 days.
Across the state, the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,405) increased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,323) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (828) decreased from the day before.
The Department of Community Health listed 638 long-term care facilities on Monday with COVID-19 cases among their residents and/or staff, the same number as on Friday, when the Long-Term Care Facility Report was last released.

Charts 1 and 2 include data from the 10-county Northeast Health District of the Department of Public Health, which includes Oconee and Clarke counties.
Chart 3 shows data for Oconee and Clarke counties and, in the insert, data from GHA. The data are for Region E of GEMA, which consists of the 10 counties of the Northeast Health District plus Franklin and Hart counties..

Lee, great job, but could you track cases per 100,000 and the positivity rate? These are metrics used by CCSD.

I report cases per 100,000 and deaths per 100,000 periodically. I reported them in Saturday's post.
I also have reported positivity rates, and I did so on Sunday.
In both cases, the data are in Chart 3.
Cases per 100,000 are helpful in understanding the comparative prevalence of the disease, but the changes day-to-day in a given county can best be understood in the raw counts.
The positivity data are complex, and the state changed how it presented these data in recent weeks. As with the deaths and cases, the data being released in raw form now are both by date of report and date of occurrence. None of this is clearly labeled, and it has taken me some time to understand the different ways the positivity data have been presented. I commented on this in Sunday's post.
I hope this helps. I will continue to do periodic reports on both cases and deaths per 100,000 and on test positivity.
