Northeast Health District Adds 65 COVID-19 Cases On Sunday, But No Deaths From Disease

***Rolling Averages of Added Cases Dropped Slightly In Oconee, Clarke Counties***

The Northeast Health District added 65 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday and no deaths from the disease with the release of the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report.

Sundays are normally light reporting days, but the 65 new cases compared with 77 added last Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped from 82.3 on Saturday to 80.6 on Sunday.

Every county in the 10-county Northeast Health District added at least one case. Oconee County added six cases and Clarke County added 17. The seven-day rolling average of added cases in both counties dropped slightly on Sunday from Saturday.

The seven-day rolling average of added deaths in the Northeast Health District remained unchanged at 1.6 deaths. The District also had not added any deaths last Sunday.

Oconee County, with 877 reported cases from the disease, has the fewest cases per 100,000 population in the Northeast Health District, but with 31 deaths, has the third highest rate of deaths per 100,000 in the District, following only Greene and Oglethorpe counties.

Clarke County, in contrast, with 5,865 cumulative cases reported, has the highest case rate per 100,000 population in the District, but with 50 deaths, has the third lowest death rate per 100,000 population, just higher than Morgan and Madison counties.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (53) increased by two from the day before, that the number of ICU beds in use (46) increased by three from the day before, and that the number of adult ventilators in use (29) decreased by one from the day before.

State Data

The Daily Status Report listed 1,281 new COVID-19 deaths on Sunday in the state, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped from 1,664.4 on Saturday to 1,658.9 on Sunday.

The Daily Status Report included only three new deaths from COVID-19, but the Report had listed only one on Sunday of last week.

The seven-day rolling average of added deaths increased to 25.6 on Sunday from 25.3 on Saturday.

Two of the added deaths were in the last 14 days, and the state removed one death previously recorded as resulting from COVID-19.

Across the state, the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,404) decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,329) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (844) decreased from the day before.

The Department of Community Health does not produce a Long-Term Care Facility Report on weekends.
