Rolling Average of Added COVID-19 Cases Continues To Drop In Northeast Health District As New Cases Total 194 On Sunday

***No New COVID-19 Deaths Recorded***

The seven-day rolling average of added COVID-19 cases continued to decline in the Northeast Health District with the release of the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report on Sunday, while the average of added deaths remained unchanged.

The District added just 194 new cases, compared with 271 added on Sunday of last week, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases fell to 358.6 on Sunday from 369.6 on Saturday.

Oconee County added 16 cases, and Clarke County added 43. The seven-day rolling average of added cases in Oconee County increased to 20.0 on Sunday from 18.7 on Saturday, while the seven-day rolling average in Clarke County decreased slightly to 77.0 on Sunday from 77.4 on Saturday.

Sundays are light reporting days for both cases and deaths, and the Daily Status Report listed no new confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the 10-county Northeast Health District on Sunday, as had been the case on Sunday of last week.

The seven-day rolling average of added confirmed deaths was 9.9, the same as on Saturday. That average is the highest ever recorded in the District.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (203) decreased by eight from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (75) increased by three from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (43) increased by three from the day before.

State Data

The Daily Status Report listed 3,762 new cases of COVID-19 across the state on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped to 6,329.7 from 6,505.7 on Saturday.

The Daily Status Report added two new confirmed deaths from COVID-19 across the state on Sunday. On Sunday of last week, the Report had added three deaths, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dropped just slightly to 111.1 from 111.3 on Saturday.

Only one of the added deaths was in the last 14 days. It occurred on Saturday. The other occurred on Dec. 18.

The seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by day of occurrence declined on Sunday from Saturday.

The Department of Public Health did not add any “probable deaths” from COVID-19 in Sunday’s Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added “probable deaths” dropped slightly to 25.6 from 25.7 on Saturday.

Across the state, the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients (4,150) decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,667) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (1,516) decreased from the day before.

The Department of Public Health reported the administration of an additional 9,967 vaccinations on Sunday, down from the 26,537 administered on Saturday.

The total number of vaccinations in the state is now 923,903, or 69.9 percent of the available doses. It isn’t possible to know how many of those are first and second doses. The state has a population of 10,833,472.

Data on vaccinations are not being released at the county level.

The Department of Community Health does not release a Long-Term Care Facility Report on weekends.

The charts below show the seven-day rolling average of the addition of COVID-19 molecular and antigen cases combined for the Northeast Health District and for the state of Georgia since Nov. 3, when the state first began reporting antigen test results.

The data in the charts come from the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report and have been updated for the 2:50 p.m. Report on Sunday.
