With the addition of 252 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased in the Northeast Health District for the seventh day in a row.
The District added two confirmed deaths from the disease in the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths declined for the second day running.
The deaths were of a 90-plus-year-old female in Barrow County with a chronic condition and of an 88-year-old male in Jackson County without a known chronic condition.
Barrow County now has 117 deaths from COVID-19, and Jackson County has 121.
The 10-county Northeast Health District now has 788 confirmed deaths from the disease, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths declined to 4.3 on Tuesday from 4.7 on Monday.
With the addition of the 252 new cases of COVID-19 in Tuesday’s Daily Status Report, the seven-day rolling average of added cases in the Northeast Health District increased to 180.9, up from 167.0 on Monday.
That rolling average had been 126.9 on Feb. 23, after which the rolling average began to increase.
Oconee County added 10 cases, and Clarke County added 41 cases, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 11.0 from 10.7 on Monday in Oconee County and to 28.0 from 26.6 in Clarke County.
The Department of Community Health had not released its Tuesday Long-Term Care Facility Report as of 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Tuesday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (76) decreased by four from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (63) increased by one from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (36) increased by four from the same as the day before.
The number of COVID-19 patients in area hospitals now has declined seven days in a row.
The Northeast Health District added 1,577 vaccinations on Tuesday, up from 305 on Monday; 546 of the added vaccinations were first doses, and 1,031 were second doses.
The total number of second doses (26,042) represents 4.9 percent of the District’s 530,630 residents, up from 4.7 on Monday.
State Data
Across the state, the Department of Public Health added 2,299 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases decreased to 3,174.4 from 3,289.4 on Monday.
The Daily Status Report added 67 confirmed COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths decreased to 65.4 from 66.6 on Sunday.
Twenty-eight of the added deaths occurred in the last 14 days, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by occurrence increased on Tuesday from Monday.
The Department of Public Health eliminated five deaths it has previously listed as confirmed deaths from COVID-19, including one on Nov. 24 and another on Dec. 9.
The Department of Public Health listed 43 “probable” death from COVID-19 in Tuesday’s Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added “probable” deaths increased to 15.0 from 11.7 on Monday
The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Tuesday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,874) at the state’s hospitals decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,443) increased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (1,156) decreased from the day before.
The Department of Public Health reported administration of 44,475 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations on Tuesday, up from 11,761 on Monday. The number of first doses was 17,218, and the number of second doses was 27,257.
The total number of vaccinations in the state is now 2,104,827, representing 7.4 percent of the state’s 10.8 million residents.
The Department of Public Health did not report any new allocations of COVID-19 vaccinations on Tuesday, but it did report shipment of an additional 84,240 doses.
As of Tuesday, 77.4 percent of the doses shipped to the state had been administered.
