The seven-day rolling averages of both added COVID-19 cases and confirmed deaths from the disease increased in the Northeast Health District with the release of the Saturday Daily Status Report of the Department of Public Health.

The increase of the rolling average of added cases was the sixth in as many days.

The District added three confirmed deaths, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths increased to 1.7 deaths per day from 1.3 deaths per day on Friday.

The deaths were of an 82-year-old female in Barrow County with a chronic condition, a 72-year-old female in Walton County without a chronic condition, and an 88-year-old female in Walton County without a chronic condition.

The District now has 904 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the onset of the pandemic in February of last year.

Hospital Report, Vaccines

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Saturday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (29) increased by three from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (56) remained unchanged from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (30) decreased by one from the day before.

The Department of Public Health released data on Saturday showing that 16.3 percent of the population of the Northeast Health District is now fully vaccinated.

The figure had been 16.0 on Friday.

The District is not keeping up with the state, which has 18.7 percent of the population vaccinated. That figure had been 18.3 on Friday.

Oconee County has the highest percent of its population vaccinated in the 10-county District with 24.9 percent. Clarke County is at 18.1 percent.

These percentages are based on the population figures given by the Department of Public Health in the Daily Status Report.

The State Vaccine Distribution Dashboard reports higher percentages for the 10 counties in the Northeast Health District (it does not report the data for the District itself) by using lower estimates of the population sizes.
