State Public Health Report Shows Growth In COVID Case Count In NE Health District After Three Weeks Of Little Change

***Oconee And Clarke Report Small Increases***

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported that the Northeast Health District added 184 new cases of COVID-19 in the week ending on Nov. 15, based on the Department’s electronic tracking system.

The District had reported 141 cases in the week ending on Nov. 1, and 146 cases in the week ending on Oct. 25.

Weekly Report

Although the Department of Public Health is releasing a report only weekly, it is gathering data on a daily basis, and the weekly report includes a data file containing case counts each day, ending on a Wednesday.

At-home test results are not included in the electronic reporting system.

The average number of added cases per day in the last seven days ending on Nov. 15 was 26.3, up from 20.0 last week.

Oconee County added nine new cases in the seven days ending on Nov. 15.

Oconee County had added seven new cases in the week ending on Nov. 8.

Clarke County added 31 new cases in the seven days ending on Nov. 15. It had 27 new cases in the seven days ending on Nov. 8.

The unstandardized rolling average of added cases in Oconee County on Nov. 15 was 1.1. It was 1.1 on Nov. 8.

The unstandardized seven-day rolling average of added cases in Clarke County on Nov. 15 was 4.3. It was 3.9 on Nov. 8.

Deaths

The newly reported confirmed death from COVID-19 was in Jackson County, bringing to 302 the number of deaths since the onset of the pandemic in February of 2020.

The Jackson County death represents 397.9 deaths per 100,000 population.

The total number of deaths in the Northeast Health District from the disease now stands at 1,782, or 336.1 deaths per 100,000 population.

Clarke County, with 254 confirmed deaths from the disease, has the lowest rate of deaths in the 10-county Northeast Health District at 197.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

Oconee County, with 108 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, has the second lowest rate of deaths, with 258.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The Northeast Health District reported 197 “probable” deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, the same as a week earlier.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s 10-county Northeast Health District includes, in addition to Oconee and Clarke counties, Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oglethorpe, and Walton.
