The 23 cases based on the antigen test pushed up the seven-day rolling average of added cases from that test to 28.1 on Monday from 24.6 on Sunday.

State Data

Across the state, the Department of Public Health reported 1,535 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, based on molecular tests, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases from this test dropped to 2,302.1 on Monday from 2,343.9 on Sunday.

The Department of Public Health did not list any new deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the Monday Daily Status Report.

The state dates deaths by date of occurrence, and, according to the report released on Monday, no deaths have been reported to date that occurred since last Thursday, when six deaths were reported. It is likely the lack of deaths reflects a delay in reporting over the holidays.

The Department of Public Health did report 10 probable deaths, that is, deaths that are not confirmed as attributed to COVID-19 by the standards set up by the Department, which include having a molecular test confirming that the deceased had the disease.

The Department of Community Health reported COVID-19 cases among residents and/or staff at 664 long-term care facilities around the state, up from 661 on Wednesday, when the Department produced it last report before Monday.

Across the state, the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients (2,197) increased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,370) increased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (871) increased from the day before.
