Northeast Health District Added 109 COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths, In Sunday Department Of Public Health Report

***Rolling Averages Added Cases Up, Deaths Unchanged***

The seven-day rolling average of added COVID-19 cases in the Northeast Health District increased on Sunday, and the rolling average of added deaths remained unchanged.

The Department of Public Health, in its Sunday Daily Status Report, listed 109 new cases of COVID-19, up from 99 a week ago, and the seven-day rolling average increased to 163.9 from 162.4 on Saturday.

The Report listed no new confirmed deaths from the disease in the District, as also was the case a week ago, and the seven-day rolling average on Sunday was 3.4, as it was on Saturday.

Sundays and Mondays are light reporting days for the Department of Public Health, as fewer labs and medical facilities submit data on the weekends.

Oconee County added 17 COVID-19 cases, and Clarke County added 12. The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased in Oconee County to 13.1 from 11.7 on Saturday. In Clarke County, the seven-day rolling average of added cases declined to 26.6 from 27.1 on Saturday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (62) remained unchanged from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (59) decreased by two from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (35) was unchanged from the day before.

The Northeast Health District added 1,177 vaccinations on Sunday, up from 1,035 vaccinations on Saturday.

The total number of second doses (30,865) represents 5.8 percent of the District’s 530,630 residents.

The 5.8 percent figure compares with a figure of 8.6 percent for the state’s 10.8 million population.

The Department of Community Health does not issue its Long-Term Care Facility Report on the weekends.

State Data

Across the state, the Department of Public Health added 1,797 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases decreased to 2,594.4 from 2,691.1 on Saturday.

The Daily Status Report added two confirmed COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths remained unchanged at 78.3.

Neither of the added deaths occurred in the last 14 days, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by occurrence dropped on Sunday from Saturday.

The Department of Public Health eliminated one death it has previously listed as a confirmed death from COVID-19.

The Department of Public Health added no “probable” deaths from COVID-19 in Sunday’s Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added “probable” deaths remained unchanged at 11.6.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,603) at the state’s hospitals decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,329) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (1,162) increased from the day before.

The Department of Public Health reported administration of 27,809 doses of COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday, down from 38,981 doses of COVID-19 vaccines added on Saturday.

The Department of Public Health did not report any new allocations of COVID-19 vaccinations on Sunday or new shipment of the allocated doses.

As of Sunday, 81.2 percent of the doses shipped to the state had been administered.

The charts below show the seven-day rolling average of the addition of COVID-19 molecular and antigen cases combined for the Northeast Health District and for the state of Georgia since Nov. 3, when the state first began reporting antigen test results.

The data in the charts come from the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report and have been updated for the 2:50 p.m. Report on Sunday.
