Rolling Average Added COVID-19 Cases Continues To Increase In Northeast Health District

***Rolling Average Added Deaths Declines***

The seven-day rolling average of added COVID-19 cases continued to increase in the Northeast Health District on Monday with the release of the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report.

The Department of Public Health listed 133 new cases of the disease in the District along with four new confirmed deaths from the disease.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 167.0 from 156.0 on Sunday, while the seven-day rolling average of added confirmed deaths dropped to 4.7 from 5.4 on Sunday.

One of the confirmed deaths was in Clarke County: a 77-year old female with a chronic condition. The death was the 113th confirmed death in Clarke County attributed to COVID-19.

The Daily Status Report also listed as a confirmed death an 86-year-old female in Barrow County with a chronic condition, a 57-year-old male in Elbert County without a chronic condition, and a 69-year-old female in Madison County, also without a chronic condition.

Barrow County now has 116 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, Elbert County has 50, and Madison County has 38. The 10-county District as a whole has 786 confirmed COVID-19 deaths.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases in the Northeast Health District has now increased six days in a row and is just below its level on Feb. 16.

Oconee County added six cases, and Clarke County added 13. The seven-day rolling average of added cases in Oconee County increased to 10.7 from 10.0 on Sunday, while in Clarke County the average increased to 26.6 from 26.0 on Sunday.

The Department of Community Health, in Monday’s Long-Term Care Facility Report, listed two new cases of COVID-19 among staff at the Northeast Health District long-term care facilities.

These were at St. Mary’s Highland Hills Village personal care home, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, in Oconee County, and at Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation nursing home in Greene County.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (80) decreased by five from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (62) was unchanged from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (32) was unchanged from the same as the day before.

The number of COVID-19 patients in area hospitals now has declined six days in a row.

The Northeast Health District added only 305 vaccinations on Monday, down from 899 on Sunday; 229 of the added vaccinations were first doses, and 76 were second doses.

The total number of second doses (25,011) represents 4.7 percent of the District’s 530,630 residents, the same as on Sunday.

State Data

Across the state, the Department of Public Health added 2,230 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 3,289.4 from 3,205.1 on Sunday.

The Daily Status Report added 80 confirmed COVID-19 deaths on Monday, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths increased to 66.6 from 63.1 on Sunday.

Twenty-seven of the added deaths occurred in the last 14 days, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by occurrence decreased on Monday from Sunday.

The Department of Public Health listed one “probable” death from COVID-19 in Monday’s Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added “probable” deaths fell to 11.7 from 16.6 on Sunday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,895) at the state’s hospitals decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,418) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (1,179) increased from the day before.

The Department of Public Health reported administration of 11,761 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations on Monday, down from 49,669 on Sunday. The number of first doses was 8,708, and the number of second doses was 3,053.

The total number of vaccinations in the state is now 2,060,352, representing 7.2 percent of the state’s 10.8 million residents.

The Department of Public Health reported the allocation of 463,610 new doses of vaccines on Monday, including 83,000 of the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

The Department of Public Health reported an additional shipment of 152,610 does of the vaccine. None of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine has yet shipped.

As of Monday, 78.2 percent of the doses shipped to the state had been administered.
