Changes Are Slight, But Rolling Averages Of Added COVID-19 Cases, Deaths Continue To Fall In Northeast Health District

***Small Drop In COVID-19 Patients At Area Hospitals***

The seven-day rolling averages of both added COVID-19 cases and of deaths from the disease dipped just slightly in the Northeast Health District on Sunday, the fourth day in a row in which both averages declined.

The Department of Public Health’s Daily Status Report listed 48 new cases of COVID-19 in the 10-county Northeast Health District and no new deaths from the disease.

The seven-day rolling average of added cases fell to 57.1 from 57.6 on Saturday, while the rolling average of added deaths from the disease move to 1.9 from 2.0 on Saturday.

On Sunday of last week, the Daily Status Report had listed 51 new cases in the Northeast Health District and one death from COVID-19.

Oconee County added three cases and Clarke County added 14. The seven-day rolling average in Oconee County increased to 4.3 from 4.0 on Saturday, and the rolling average of added cases increased in Clarke County to 11.4 from 10.4 on Saturday.

The Department of Community Health does not issue its Long-Term Care Facility Report on the weekends.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (44) decreased by one from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (58) increased by one from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (29) was unchanged from the day before.

The Department of Public Health is no longer reporting vaccination data at the county level.

State Data

The Daily Status Report added one confirmed COVID-19 death across the state on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths increased to 38.7 from 38.6 on Saturday.

The District had added no deaths on Sunday of last week.

The added death was dated as occurring on Feb. 21, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by day of the death decreased on Sunday.

The Department of Public Health added one “probable” deaths from COVID-19 in Sunday’s Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added “probable” deaths was 3.4, up from 3.3 on Saturday.

Across the state, the Department of Public Health added 933 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 1,453.1 from 1,448.0 on Saturday. The state had added 897 cases last Sunday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,134) at the state’s hospitals increased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,342) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (992) decreased from the day before.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Sunday that the state administered only 2,736 vaccines since Saturday’s report and that 13.1 percent of the Georgia’s population is now fully vaccinated, and 17.2 percent of those 18 years old and older are fully vaccinated.

Those figures were 13.1 and 17.1 on Saturday.
