Sarah Virginia Bell: 1955-2020

Oconee County lost a dedicated citizen activist who cared immensely about its political and social life on Monday morning when Sarah Bell found peace after a difficult struggle with cancer.

Sarah ran for office, coordinated candidate forums, engaged in historical research, and spoke up at meeting after meeting on issues of importance to her and this county.

As A Candidate 2011
Sarah devoted much energy to Republican politics, at the local, state, and national levels. She was a strong advocate of transparency and citizen engagement, and in that we found a common bond.

Sarah volunteered to help me with this blog about 10 years ago. We made a deal. I would buy a camera and tripod. She would attend meetings I could not attend and video record them. I would use the video in my reporting and upload it to Vimeo for anyone wishing to make use of it.
