Oconee County Issued Building Permits For Three New Stores In Epps Bridge Centre

Central Cluster Taking Shape

The Oconee County Code Enforcement Office issued permits earlier this month for construction of stores to house Lane Bryant, Sleep Number and Alumni Hall, all to be located in the new Epps Bridge Centre.

Lane Bryant and Alumni Hall will be in the central cluster of the strip mall, between the now-open University 16 Cinemas and the Oconee Connector.

The Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic already are open in that building cluster, and traffic on Saturday in front of the three was heavy. The Gap and Banana Republic are outlets.

Sleep Number will join Vitamin Shoppe in a building on what is labeled Outparcel 10, fronting on the Oconee Connector. This is the only one of the 12 outparcels on which a building has been constructed.

The most complete part of the mall is the building housing Pier 1 Imports, Five Below, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. All are scheduled to open soon.

Permits and Utility Records

Before Code Enforcement can issue a permit, a tenant or the building owner has to pay for water and sewer connections.

Jenanne White, administrative assistance in the Utility Department, told Code Enforcement on July 30 that the fees had been paid for Alumni Hall. She sent an email message on Aug. 1 indicating that Lane Bryant and Sleep Number had paid their fees.

Code Enforcement issued a permit for Lane Bryant to complete interior work on its suite in Building 700 on Aug. 5 and a permit for completion of the interior of a suite in Building 500 for Alumni Hall on that same date.

The county issued a permit for interior construction on the building shell on Outparcel 10 for Sleep Number on Aug. 6.

Four-Building Central Cluster

Four buildings make up the central cluster of the mall. These are labeled Buildings 400, 500, 600 and 700 on site plans.

The theater is Building 200 and is flanked by Building 300 on the west and Building 100 on the east.

Construction is most complete on Building 100 and Building 600.

Buildings 700, 400 and 500 are in various stages of construction and largely hidden from public view at present by fencing.

Utility Department records indicate that clothing retailer The Children’s Place will have a store in Building 600, joining the three Gap company stores.

Lane Bryant and Alumni Hall

Though Lane Bryant has been mentioned as a Epps Bridge Centre tenant, the Utility Department record of fees paid and the permit issued earlier this month are the first confirmation the store will be part of the mall’s mix. The same is true for Alumni Hall.

Lane Bryant, with customer service offices in Margate, Fla., is a women's clothing store chain focusing on plus-size clothing. At present, the closest store is in Tanger Outlet in Commerce, according to the store locator on the company’s web site.

Alumni Hall is a sports clothing retailer based in Knoxville. The Epps Bridge Centre store will be the first in Georgia, according to that company’s web site.

Sleep Number has stores in Lawrenceville and Buford, according to that company’s web site. It offers beds and bedding and is based in Minneapolis.

Alumni Hall was the UGA store located in Georgia Square Mall for five years and closed last March in anticipation of the new Epps Bridge Centre. Will open in the next couple of days.
