Northeast Health District Adds 227 New COVID-19 Cases With Release Of Thursday Department Of Public Health Report

***No New Deaths Attributed to Disease Reported***

The Northeast Health District added 188 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 based on molecular testing on Thursday, the largest number the 10-county District has added since Sept. 15–and an additional 39 cases based on rapid antigen tests.

The seven-day rolling average of added confirmed cases in the Department of Public Health Daily Status report increased from 133.3 on Wednesday to 137.4 on Thursday. The last time the seven-day rolling average was that high in the District was on Sept. 18.

The added antigen positive tests pushed the seven-day rolling average of added antigen cases to 52.0 from 50.3 on Wednesday. The Department of Public Health began reporting antigen cases only on Nov. 3, and the 52.0 average is just below the 52.6 average after the first week of released data on antigen cases.

Every county in the 10-county Northeast Health District added at least four cases based on the molecular tests on Thursday, with Oconee County adding seven cases and Clarke County adding 45. The seven-day rolling average of added cases increased in both counties.

Oconee County also added six cases based on the antigen tests, and Clarke County added five.

No new deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the Thursday Daily Status Report. Because one death had been removed from the listing of deaths in the District a week ago, the seven-day rolling average of added death increased even without a new death from 1.6 on Wednesday to 1.7 on Thursday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Thursday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (84) increased by five from the day before, that the number of ICU beds in use (57) decreased by seven from the day before, and that the number of adult ventilators in use (26) decreased by three from the day before.

Even with the growth in cases in the District, the number of COVID-19 patients, number of ICU beds in use, and number of adult ventilators in use has not increased in recent weeks.

The state also removed four cases previously listed as caused by COVID-19 from its archives of deaths from the disease.
