Rolling Average Of Added COVID-19 Cases In Northeast Health District Drops With Release Of Sunday Department Of Public Health Report

***Area Hospitals Report Drop In COVID-19 Patients***

The Department of Public Health listed 271 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District in Sunday’s Daily Status Report, down from the 325 listed on Sunday of last week, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases dropped to 438.9 from 446.6 on Saturday.

The Daily Status Report did not include any new deaths in the Northeast Health District, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths remained unchanged at 7.1 deaths per day. Sundays are light reporting days, and the District also did not have any new deaths listed on Sunday of last week.

The rolling average of cases dropped from Saturday but it is still higher than the rolling average on Friday.

Oconee County added only seven cases, and Clarke County added 46. The seven-day rolling average of added cases for Oconee County dropped to 24.7 from 26.9 on Saturday. The Clarke County seven-day rolling average dropped to 87.3 from 88.9 on Saturday.

Parents at North Oconee High School and at Malcom Bridge Middle School have been informed of “an individual” at each of the schools who have tested positive for COVID-19. That brings to at last four the number of cases since the school issued its weekly summary on Friday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (262) decreased by five from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (82) was the same as the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (57) decreased by two from the day before.

State Data

Across the state, the Daily Status Report added 4,994 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases fell to 7.555.6 from 7,781.6 on Saturday.

The Daily Status Report added three deaths, the same number as were added on Sunday of last week, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths remained unchanged at 111.4 deaths per day.

Two of the three deaths occurred in the last 14 days. The third added death occurred on Dec. 29. The seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by occurrence declined from Saturday.

The Daily Status Report added one “probable death” from the disease. The seven-day rolling average of added “probable deaths” dropped from 26.6 on Saturday to 26.4 on Sunday.

Across the state, the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients (4,959) decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,731) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (1,595) decreased from the day before.

The Department of Public Health reported adding 5,023 new COVID-19 vaccinations on Sunday, up from 4,678 on Saturday, and the total number of vaccinations in the state is now 656,501. It isn’t possible to know how many of those are first versus second doses.

The Department of Community Health does not issue its Long-Term Care Facility Report on the weekends.
