COVID Case Count In Northeast Health District Up Slightly, State Department Of Public Health Reports

***Oconee Shows Increase; Clarke Decrease***

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported that the Northeast Health District added 411 new cases of COVID-19 in the week ending on Sept. 13, based on the Department’s electronic tracking system.

The Department of Public Health reported 345 new cases in the week ending on Sept. 6, 424 new cases in the week ending on Aug. 30, and 519 new cases in the week ending on Aug. 23.

The Department of Public Health reported one new confirmed death from COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District in its report on Wednesday.

The confirmed deaths from the disease was in Clarke County.

The Department of Public Health had reported two new confirmed deaths from the disease in its reports on Sept. 6.

Weekly Report

Although the Department of Public Health is releasing a report only weekly, it is gathering data on a daily basis, and the weekly report includes a data file containing case counts each day, ending on a Wednesday.

At-home test results are not included in the electronic reporting system.

The average number of added cases per day in the last seven days ending on Sept. 13 was 58.7, up from 49.3 last week but down from 60.6 on Aug. 30 and from 74.1 in the Northeast Health District on Aug. 23.

Oconee County added 32 new cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 13.

Oconee County had added 12 new cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 6.

Clarke County added 112 new cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 13. It had added 121 cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 6.

The unstandardized rolling average of added cases in Oconee County on Sept. 13 was 4.3. It had been 1.7 on Sept. 6.

The unstandardized seven-day rolling average of added cases in Clarke County on Sept. 13 was 16.4. It had been 17.7 on Sept. 6.

Deaths

The Clarke County confirmed death from COVID-19 was of a 63-year-old male without a chronic condition.

The Clarke County death brings to 1,774 the number of confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District since the outbreak of the pandemic in November of 2020 and represents 334.6 deaths per 100,000 population.

Clarke County still has the lowest rate of deaths per 100,000 population among the 10 counties in the Northeast Health District with 196.6.

Oconee County, with 108 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, has the second lowest rate of deaths per 100,000 population, with 258.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The Northeast Health District reported 196 “probable” deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, the same as last week.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s 10-county Northeast Health District includes, in addition to Oconee and Clarke counties, Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oglethorpe, and Walton.
