COVID Case Count In Northeast Health District Continues To Decline

***Oconee, Clarke Again Report Decreases***

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported that the Northeast Health District added 193 new cases of COVID-19 in the week ending on Sept. 27, based on the Department’s electronic tracking system.

The Department of Public Health reported 231 new cases in the week ending on Sept. 20.

It had reported 411 new cases in the week ending on Sept.13, 345 new cases in the week ending on Sept. 6, 424 new cases in the week ending on Aug. 30, and 519 new cases in the week ending on Aug. 23.

The Department of Public Health reported three new confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District in its report on Wednesday.

The Department of Public Health had reported two new confirmed deaths from the disease in its reports on Sept. 20.

Weekly Report

Although the Department of Public Health is releasing a report only weekly, it is gathering data on a daily basis, and the weekly report includes a data file containing case counts each day, ending on a Wednesday.

At-home test results are not included in the electronic reporting system.

The average number of added cases per day in the last seven days ending on Sept. 27 was 27.6, down from 33.0 last week.

Oconee County added 17 new cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 27.

Oconee County had added 28 new cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 20.

Clarke County added 48 new cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 27. It had added 75 cases in the seven days ending on Sept. 20.

The unstandardized rolling average of added cases in Oconee County on Sept. 27 was 2.1. It had been 3.3 on Sept. 20.

The unstandardized seven-day rolling average of added cases in Clarke County on Sept. 27 was 6.9. It had been 10.6 on Sept. 20.

Deaths

The three reported confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the Sept. 27 Daily Status Report of the Georgia Department of Public Health were in Jackson, Madison, and Walton counties.

Jackson County has reported 300 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the onset of the pandemic in February of 2020, or 395.2 deaths per 100,000 population.

Madison County has reported 110 confirmed deaths, or 365.2 deaths per 100,000 population.

Walton County has reported 434 confirmed deaths from COVID 19 since the onset of the pandemic in February of 2020, or 448.9 per 100,000 population.

The Department of Public Health removed one death previously reported in Barrow County from the lists of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in that county.

The total number of deaths in the Northeast Health District from the disease now stands at 1,777, or 335.2 deaths per 100,000 population.

Clarke County, with 253 confirmed deaths from COVID-19, has the lowest rate of deaths in the 10-county Northeast Health District, at 196.6 per 100,000 population.

Oconee County, with 108 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, has the second lowest rate of deaths, with 258.4 deaths per 100,000 population.

The Northeast Health District reported 196 “probable” deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday, the same as last week.

The Georgia Department of Public Health’s 10-county Northeast Health District includes, in addition to Oconee and Clarke counties, Barrow, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oglethorpe, and Walton.
