Seven-Day Rolling Average Of Added COVID-19 Cases In Northeast Health District Declines Fifth Day In Row

***Rolling Average Added Cases In Oconee Increases***

The Department of Public Health Daily Status Report listed 45 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northeast Health District on Sunday, resulting in a slight drop in the seven-day rolling averages of added cases of the disease in the District.

The Daily Status Report listed no new confirmed deaths from the coronavirus, and the seven-day rolling average of added confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 1.7 deaths per day.

With the addition of the 45 cases, the seven-day rolling average of added cases in the 10-county District fell to 48.4 from 48.9 on Saturday. The rolling average has dropped each of the last five days.

Oconee County added eight cases, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 3.7 from 3.0 on Saturday.

Clarke County added six cases, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases declined to 10.7 from 11.9 on Saturday.

The Department of Community Health does not issue a Long-Term Care Facility Report on weekends.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (37) decreased by two from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (51) decreased by three from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (30) decreased by four from the day before.

The Department of Public Health reported data on Sunday showing that 14.4 percent of the population of the Northeast Health District is now fully vaccinated, up from 14.2 percent on Saturday.

Oconee County has the highest percent of its population vaccinated in the 10-county District with 21.8 percent. Clarke County is at 15.7 percent.

I calculated these percentages based on the population figures given by the Department of Public Health in the Daily Status Report. The dashboard uses percentages based on some other, unspecified population estimates.

State Data

Across the state, the Department of Public Health added 1,179 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 1,435.3, up from 1,400.1 on Saturday.

The Daily Status Report added no confirmed COVID-19 deaths across the state on Sunday, and the seven-day rolling average of added deaths decreased to 34.0 from 34.1 on Saturday.

The seven-day rolling average of added deaths dated by day of occurrence decreased just slightly on Sunday from Saturday.

The Department of Public Health also did not add any “probable” deaths from COVID-19 in Sunday’s Daily Status Report, and the seven-day rolling average of added “probable” deaths was 6.1, down from 6.3 on Saturday.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Sunday that the number of COVID-19 patients (1,136) at the state’s hospitals decreased from the day before, the number of ICU beds in use (2,284) decreased from the day before, and the number of adult ventilators in use (983) increased from the day before.

The Department of Public Health on Sunday reported data indicating that 16.0 percent of the state’s population is fully vaccinated, up from 15.7 percent on Saturday.

The charts below show the seven-day rolling average of the addition of COVID-19 molecular and antigen cases combined for the Northeast Health District and for the state of Georgia since Nov. 3, when the state first began reporting antigen test results.
