Former President Donald Trump received 77.4 percent of the vote in the Republican Presidential Preference Primary in Oconee County on Tuesday, and President Joseph Biden received 94.2 percent of the vote in the Democratic Presidential Preference Primary.
Only 5,243 (17.2 percent) of the 30,488 active voters cast a ballot in the two primaries, with 4,471 (85.3 percent) voting in the Republican Primary and 772 (14.7 percent) voting in the Democratic Primary.
Nikki Haley, the last of the Republicans to drop out of the race against Trump, received 19.2 percent of the Republican vote. The next highest in terms of vote was Ron DeSantis, with 1.7 percent of the vote.
On the Democratic side, Marianne Williamson received 4.0 percent of the vote as the closest competitor to Biden.
Trump ran strongest in North Oconee, Bogart, Dark Corner, and Colham Ferry among Oconee County’s eight precincts, where he topped 80 percent of the vote.
He ran poorest in the largest precinct, Civic Center, where he received 70.7 percent of the vote.
Turnout, Vote Type
Turnout was high in Civic Center, with 18.8 percent of the voters casting a ballot.

Trump did best in two of the precincts with very low turnout, North Oconee and Bogart, and the three precincts where he had his highest percentages had below average turnout.
In the Democratic Primary, 7.4 percent of the ballots were cast Absentee By Mail, 49.5 percent were cast Advance In Person, and 43.1 percent were cast on Election Day.
Biden won 96.5 percent of the Absentee By Mail Votes, 95.5 Percent of the Advance In Person votes, and 92.2 percent of the Election Day votes.
In the Republican Primary, 2.6 percent of the ballots were cast Absentee By Mail, 49.7 percent were cast Advance In Person, and 47.8 percent were cast on Election Day.
Trump won 59.6 percent of the votes cast Absentee By Mail, 70.1 percent of the votes cast Advance In Person, and 85.9 percent of the votes cast on Election Day.
