Oconee County added five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Department of Public Health Daily Status Report released at 1 p.m. on Friday, and the 10-county Northeast Health District, of which Oconee County is a part, added 39 new cases.
Clarke County added nine cases in the Friday Daily Status Report, and every county in the Northeast Health District except Morgan and Greene counties added at last one case.
The Northeast Health District of the Department of Public Health continued a three-day run of adding large numbers of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with 43 new cases pushing the seven-day average of added cases to 37.0 from 34.4 on Wednesday.
The 10-county district also added another death attributed to the disease, the sixth death in the last three days, and the seven-day average of added deaths stood at 1.7, down from 1.9 on Wednesday.
Oconee County voters in November will be presented with a $64.6 million wish list of projects to be funded by a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax if the Board of Commissioners accepts a staff proposal given it last week.
Included on the list is $14.4 million for roads and bridges, $7.5 million for water and sewer projects, $6.9 million for a library and government administrative building, and $6.3 million for county broadband.

The seven-day rolling average of cases added in the district dropped from 25.0 on Monday to 24.9 on Tuesday, while the seven-day average of added deaths remained steady at 1.4.
Nine out of 10 of those who participated in the first week of In-Person early voting in Oconee County used the Republican ballot, but less than two-thirds of those who had turned in an Absentee ballot by the end of last week had used the Republican ballot.
Early In-Person voting has been light, with only 533 persons showing up at the Board of Elections and Registration Office across from the Courthouse in Watkinsville to cast a ballot by the end of the day on Friday.

That number of new cases, which included two from both Oconee and Clarke counties, kept the seven-day rolling average of cases at 25.0, just down from 25.3 on Sunday.
